Coil Insulation

Arlon is the world's leading provider of silicone motor coil insulation materials. Our products offer protection against vibration and abrasion while providing excellent dielectric protection -- even in the most challenging conditions.

     Silicone Rubber Benefits:
Proven in field service since the 1950's, silicone rubber has a unique silicone-oxygen chemical "backbone" that permits compounding to meet the tough service requirements of traction motor use.

Flexibility: Silicone rubber resists damage due to vibration, frame movement under load and thermal expansion/contraction in use. Silicone remains flexible even after many years of severe desert, over-mountain freight service, and high humidity environments.

Temperature Resistance: Start-ups at -65oF to running full out at 500oF+; silicone stays flexible where cold renders other materials brittle, yet resists thermal shock and retains its properties while running hot.

Dielectric Performance: Silicones have dielectric strengths of 400-600 volts/mil and retain dielectric integrity through the entire operating temperature range; resists arc tracking, corona damage; excellent dielectric fatigue resistance.

Ozone and Weather Resistance: Unique silicone chemistry resists oxidation embrittlement, attack by ozone, and other atmospheric chemicals, seals against moisture, carbon dust and roadway dirt.
